Dustin Hoffman plays an impatient, unemployed actor who dons dresses and makeup and is hired as a woman in a TV soap opera. While posing as "Dorothy Michaels," Hoffman learns first-hand about the nature of women and men, through the co-star (Jessica Lange) he falls in love with; her father (Charles Durning), who has a thing for Dorothy; his flaky girlfriend (Teri Garr); and some jerky co-workers (Dabney Coleman, George Gaynes). 116 min.
