First seen in two-language versions (English and French) on Canada's Showcase cable network, the multi-series Bliss based on erotic unreal dramas by and for women. Combining the geniuses of such top female writers and directors as Susan Musgrave, Holly Dale, Tamara Griffiths, Lynne Stopkewich, Cathleen Bond, Ghyslaine Cote, Katherine Schlemmer, Mina Shum, Maureen McKeon, Sylvie Rosenthal, Laurie Finstad-Knizhik, and Adrienne Mitchell, the weekly, series of one0hour duration suggested watching attractive actresses devoting themselves to wills and desires of women of all ages "the power and latitude of women's prurience." Infidelity, homosexuality, sadomasochism, and swinging were among the problems discussed, done in a good light and entertaining manner (entertaining, perhaps, to everyone except chauvinistic males, who could not but mention the men there were treated as sex objects). Performing its Canadian debut on March 21, 2002, the three-season Bliss was shown in the U.S. by the Oxygen Network cable service stating on February 15, 2003. Not in a purely serious way, Oxygen began every single episode with the words "Warning! Lasting addiction to Bliss causes sticky hands, rapid heartbeat, and insatiate sexual mania."
